Heartiest welcome to the new slate, 2025.
The world and its unexpected unrealistic problems.
With so many significant matters of 2024 under our sleeves, we are fast-forwarding to a brand new year,2025.
The outgoing year was more disastrous than we may have imagined it to be. Yes, believe me, with so much violence, unrest, and unwritten conspiracy theories, we are still finding it tough to come to normalcy.
The entire 2024 stood out as a turbulent period, characterized by intense and deadly standoffs between numerous nations. Simultaneously, several countries are grappling with profound internal unrest, igniting political discord and social upheaval that disrupt the lives of their citizens.
According to the latest UN figures, over 300 million people in 72 countries needed immediate humanitarian assistance and protection in 2024.
According to data released by the World Bank for 2024, nearly 700 million people accounting for 8.5% of the world’s population live in extreme poverty.
As per a global study over 35% of women and girls have experienced sexual harassment in their lives. The situation is worse in the war-inflicted areas where such crimes are alarmingly high. Over 9% of men and boys are also facing sexual assaults.
Over 733 million people are living under extreme hunger conditions globally. Malnutrition is another issue directly related to poverty.
I don’t know what to write on ‘Malnutrition’ when the developed countries are directly influencing conflicts and unrest in the affected countries and then in the name of charity, they are controlling the local governments as per their wishes.
Healthwise poverty is a curse to people who are living under the poverty line. A lack of information regarding government welfare schemes adds to their woes. When they cross every hurdle to get some medical help, they face even more heat of poverty.
In short, poverty and health are interconnected.
Not only health, but basic humanistic amenities are interdependent too.
Fundamentally, education is another area where data grows alarmingly, raising global concerns over rising illiteracy. According to UNESCO, more than 64 million children dropped out of primary school worldwide in 2020. The situation is even worse after Covid.
The challenges facing the modern world are intricately woven and more serious than we often realize. These problems go beyond simple classifications, exposing a deeper, more troubling reality that may lie beyond our understanding and imagination.
Two Opposite Worlds with Zero Interconnection
Do you know that the richest 1% of the world’s population possess nearly half of the world’s net wealth?
They also have the largest share of the global financial assets compared to the rest 99% of the world’s population.
There are two vastly different worlds: one dominated by the wealthiest 1% and another by the richest 10%. Meanwhile, the remaining population is left vulnerable to the influence of the rich. The stark contrast between these two worlds is staggering. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that 90% of the population lacks the determination to demand their rightful entitlements.
The two parallel worlds and neither is happy.
Wealthy nations exploit the vulnerability of poorer countries but overlook that the entire world is enduring the repercussions of their misguided policies.
With problems piling up on the UN’s desk, no one is questioning the powerful countries behind all this destruction. More precisely, it’s not like they survived the impact. They face many serious consequences themselves, yet they continue their destructive policies.
At loggerheads with each other
It is high time that the world faced so-called man-made disasters. Also, at the moment, many powerful nations are just supporting different kinds of espionage, revenge, and conspiracy against other sovereign nations. This happens just because of their hidden desires to sell their weapons, make them their dump yards, or more precisely support pseudo-colonialism.
Since their financial situation has reached a standstill, they are trying their best to revive it at the cost of humanity. Rich countries always consider the poor as their subordinates.
UN: Heading away from its original moto
When the world formulated the need for an organization that is too effective for every nation to keep all the nations away from the slightest possibility of a head-on collision on any issue, our hopes were pinned on the UN. But how could we be fooled that the ever-valued organization would become a toy in the hands of rich countries?
According to the UN list of international days, there are hundreds of commemorative days or observance days globally throughout the year with dedicated themes based on humanitarian grounds.
The calendar is released every year, but despite strict measures and guidelines, problems persist and can even get out of control.
What a new year this is!
No matter whatever the objective of the foundation of the UN, the world is all the way going against basic human ethics, destroying its habitat through malpractices, and hidden agendas to seize the rival nations in their pursuit of fake imperialism.
The world is experiencing considerable pain and frustration, primarily due to unethical and biased actions. The powerful nations often prioritize their power and self-interest over fairness and justice. As a result, many poor nations feel marginalized and neglected when confronted with global challenges.
And we are still not learning our lessons despite the world feeling extreme heat for its unending problems.
We find ourselves in an illusory paradise, where the illusion of satisfaction hides the reality of our situation. Regardless of the difficult challenges, we must evaluate our actions and make the necessary changes. It is time to face the truth and begin the journey toward meaningful change.
“We can only be called true world citizens when we achieve this goal. Only then we will be truly entitled to celebrate the New Year.
How precious those days will be when women, children, the poor, and all the under-privileged will be safe, drug and weapon trade will be stopped, there will be no enmity towards each other and everyone will live with love, just like our policymakers would have thought while making the UN.“
