Why, Why, Why?

Why? Simply asking the male community

Of the world, in and around us,

We, the feminine community,

The women, teens, and infants

We are girls, the female

To make this world viable,

Livable, lovable, and sustainable.

Yes, we are daughters of the earth,

We have our righteous right

To ask for a safe environment,

For every one of us.

A right to live without fear

Fear of molestation,

Fear of rape,

Fear of violence,

Fear of ill-treatment,

Fear of discrimination,

Fear of bullying,

Fear of stalking,

Fear of objectifying,

Fear of shaming,

Fear of early wedding,

Fear of periods’ stigma

Fear of workplace discrimination,

Fear of financial exclusion,

Fear of uncalled judgments,

Fear of an undervaluation of contributions,

Fear of slut-shaming,

Fear of being excluded from family issues,

Fear of eve-teasing,

Fear of unmatched wedding,

Fear of marital rape,

Fear of mental abuse,

Fear of trafficking,

Fear of inadequately paying job,

There are fears in our lives,

Many of us feel hopelessly

Helpless for being a girl,

A female with an iron will,

The irony is that, no one

Let us bloom in our own space,

No one wants us strong,

Belittling our existence

Is what we are getting

From society since ages.

There are atrocities against us

That is hard to write in a few words,

There are extreme rule violations

When we seek justice for ourselves.

Society does gather to protest

Whenever there’s a serious case

Of barbarity against us,

People do gather with

Candles in their hands,

Candles burn, but problems never

Rules and laws are made

To be violated again

Funds allocated for our safety

To be siphoned away from the purpose.

The end of the story is that

There are endless horror stories

Of heinous crimes committed against us.

Words fall short,

Emotions remain non-existent,

Our sufferings never lessen,

Our lives are always under scrutiny,

From the prying eyes of the

Vultures disguised as well-wishers,

Making us too vulnerable

To make our lives miserable.

We don’t want a venerated

Place in the society,

We never asked that

Indeed we want our

Righteous space in the society,

The space that can’t be

Intruded unlawfully by anyone.
